I have discovered a new love and her name is Elinor Lipman.
She writes contemporary fiction from a different perspective - through the maturing intelligient eyes of a teenager who would later morph into a contemplative young adult.
What is special about her writing is her ability to weave important issues - such as racisim, adultery (as in the two books I just read) into her books. In a simple and frank manner.
Lipman's books may be considered "light reading" by some critics but they certainly are heavy weights when it comes to addressing key life lessons that all of us should hearn.
