Title: If Minds Had ToesAuthor: Lucy Eyre
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
A quirky book by all means. But not quite as whimsical and charming as Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder which took the world by storm in the early 1990s. Nor as compelling.
Both books had a young protagonist in the centrestage, a clean slate upon which the ideas and ideals of philosophy were introduced. While we were literally taken into the heart of Sophie’s world by Gaarder and we get immersed along with her as she made her philosophical discoveries; Eyre’s only showed us a simple view of teenager Ben's life and dwelt simplistically on the surface of philosophical thought.
Nevertheless, If Minds Had Toes would serve well as an easy, entertaining read for anyone with some interest in exploring of the basics of philosophy without academic or intellectual pressures.
