鹿男

What a whimsical book!

Many years ago, I visited Nara as a tourist. I love the beautiful shrines and temple and even more those famed deers of Nara. These beautiful graceful creatures were amazingly tame. Even more fascinating were their ability to adapt to an increasingly modern environment - they seemed so adept at co-existing and communicating with human beings - locals and tourists alike, they were even able to navigate traffic !

This charming novel brought Nara and the myths of Japan to life, along with it a sense of nostalgia and warm memories of a wonderful autumn I spent in Japan.
